Good Morning everyone! Today, I am sharing a short tutorial inspired by a question from one of my fellow Bugaboo Stamps DT! Cely Smith asked me a question regarding my Faux Stitching, and I decided to show you my speedy way of creating it quickly and easily!
To start the Scrapbook Layout in the photo above, I gathered my most important and VITAL Ultra Fine tip Sharpie marker! (Blame that on RaeAnne! She gave me one a few years back and changed my life!) I've found they're PERFECT for aligning the DP and cardstock layers.
As you see in the photo above, I align the black felt tip of the Sharpie on the bottom layer, and the silver metal casing on the second layer. I drag the marker across the edge and pull it up and over the second layer periodically to create the look of blanket stitching. Any misaligned stitches are A-OK! Faux stitching often looks slightly irregular, and will only add character to your project!
See the 'straight' line above? That was created by running my Sharpie across as I've explained above. Each tiny dot of ink on that line is where I pulled the marker up and over the second layer and back down again. It is deceptively similar to real blanket stitching only EASIER! It adds the perfect finishing touch doesn't it?!
Below is my stitched, semi-completed Scrapbook Page! I just have to pop on a few pictures of my DD reading her favorite books before adding it to her scrapbook! Hope you enjoyed my quick tutorial! :)
